Resource Allocation System (RAS)

One of those most important parts of Self-Directed Support is making sure that people have a budget for their support, and that they know how much this is. This allows supported people and carers the highest levels of choice and control over their support, as a way of achieving outcomes. A Resource Allocation System or RAS is a way of working out a person’s budget, based on their needs and circumstances.

In Control Scotland have led the way in developing the knowledge, tools, and resources required to develop good systems of allocating resource.  In 2014 we published our Model Resource Allocation System for Children, Young People and Families, which several local authorities have adapted and successfully used.  This year, we want to develop a similar model system for adults’ services.

As with all of our grant funded projects, participation in this is free.
