Unlocking the potential of self-directed support in Scotland
Making social care fairer for everyone
In Control Scotland is a small charity that works nationally to improve social care and to realise rights. We are passionate about coproduction, and believe that together anything is possible! Our team includes people with lived, loved, and paid experience of social care and social work, and we work collaboratively with organisations, health and social care partnerships, disabled people, and unpaid carers to make social care better for everyone. We help to identify and fix problems, share our solutions, and offer learning and support to people and organisations across Scotland.
Our Story
In Control Scotland was originally formed by a group of inclusion-focused charities as a project to help develop self-directed support in Scotland, and we formally constituted as a charity in 2009. For more than 15 years we have championed rights-based and person-centred approaches, because we believe that everyone should have choice and control over their support. We are a national partner of Scottish Government in improving self-directed support, helping thousands of people to learn, share, and collaborate to think differently about social care. We are part of a wide community of organisations in Scotland, the UK, and worldwide, who share our values and vision of a fairer, more equitable system of social care that prioritises human rights.

Meet Our Trustees
Our Board of Directors is made up of ten Trustees with each individual Trustee bringing their own specific skills and experience to provide governance and help keep the organisation on track and to progress in the future. Our Trustees come from various different backgrounds and bring a variety of skills covering, finance, social care, lived experience, human rights and much more.....
